Silba Board Candidacies

Here, you can explore the passionate individuals running for positions in Silba's General Assembly 2024. Each candidate has shared their vision, experience, and commitment to our mission, giving you a chance to understand their ideas and aspirations for Silba's future.

This site is designed to give members the opportunity to elaborate on their candidacies and thoughtfully present their goals ahead of the assembly. While everyone is, of course, still entitled to run during the General Assembly itself, we strongly encourage anyone running for a board position to take advantage of this opportunity to have your candidacy published. It provides you with more time to convey your message and share your vision with fellow members in a comprehensive way.

If you are interested in having your candidacy published, please send your submission to ga@silba.dk

Presidency

Kristian N. Jakobsen

Position: President

I am this year once again running for the position of President of the organization. It has been my greatest pleasure being in the position the past two years, and I am seeking to carry on what we have set out to do and to bring forth the results of our hard labor these past two tenures.

The past two years have been filled with exciting initiatives, focused two simple agenda points:

  • Turn the course and make Silba economically sustainable.

  • Make Silba an attractive organization, that offers value to our members and partners

Two points in which I am proud to say that we are well en route to achieve and I hope together with a strong main board that we can achieve these two points and prove to ourselves and our partners, that Silba - Initiative for Dialogue and Democracy is a great course and can make a difference domestically as much as internationally!

Emma Klint Hansen
Position: Vice President

I hereby present my candidacy for Silba's General Assembly 2024, running for the position of Vice President. This is the role I have held for the past year, and I am not quite ready to
say my work is done yet.
As Vice President, I have focused heavily on organizational matters, making sure that the boards everyday work runs smoothly and that all board members feel supported in their roles. In collaboration with the rest of the Executive Board. I have also worked hard on developing frameworks that support our growing organization and ensure that knowledge is stored and passed on to future generations.

If elected for the 2024-25 term, I am excited to keep growing in this role, with an emphasis on making our board and departments even more efficient. My goal is to ensure that
volunteers feel empowered and not overwhelmed, and that being a part of Silba — even in more demanding roles — remains fun and rewarding.

Over the past board year, we in Silba have proven that we can manage large-scale projects and partner with major organizations. This has brought incredible value to Silba, both now and in terms of future partnerships and opportunities. However, I believe it is now time to turn our focus closer to home and strengthen our national and local efforts. While I recognize the importance of our EOMs and larger projects, the local branches are the Silba most of our members now and love, and where we truly make a difference here at home.

As National Vice President, I want to dedicate my efforts to supporting the community department and helping our local branches grow and thrive. I want to create better conditions for learning, engagement, and the long-term sustainability of our local communities. Thus, I am thrilled to get back with my own Silba roots, which are deeply tied to local community work, as I myself started my journey in Silba Sønderborg.

Executive Committee

Mette Alsing Schwartz

Position: Head of Community

I, Mette Alsing Schwartz, am hereby announcing my candidacy for the role of Community Manager for the main board of Silba 2024-2025.

In the two years I have been a member of Silba, most of my time and work has been at the local board of Silba Aarhus, where I have been Chair since November 2023. This last year
has been a steep learning curve. Being a small organization in a big city, I have learnt some valuable lessons, that I can put into the work as Community Manager. Some of the main lessons has been extending the corporation with other youth organizations to expand the network of the local branch, while enhancing inputs and audience for events.Organizations that previously was seen as ‘competition’ is now seen valuable resources to further extend Silba’s mission of dialogue and democracy. Another lesson has been to utilize the opportunities of the city and engaging the audience in social aspects of the informative events. This has been a massive success for Silba Aarhus, which has helped the branch in engaging more young people in the work of Silba.

If elected Community Manager of Silba I would extend the cohesiveness between local branches, making a space where we can learn from each other and secure coordination. I will at the same time support the autonomy of the local branches, being aware that they all operate under different regional circumstances.

I look forward to seeing the further development of Silba, and I would be honored to be a partof the journey.
